Having the CHA convention practically in our own backyard made the entire show experience so easy. On Saturday, we were invited by The Scrapbook Retailer Magazine to speak, as industry leaders, to the room filled with store owners and would-be retailers. We met some lovely fellow purveyors from all over the United States, Europe and Australia.
Sunday was a whirlwind, as Teresa McFayden continued her weekend of workshops here at the store. Lucky student Cheryl Simpson's name was drawn for the monster-prize. Mary, Suzi & Tanja left for the convention at three, leaving our Pauline to finish the day.
We stayed at the Annabella Hotel in Anaheim; Mary booked a concierge suite with king sized beds, down comforters & pillows...ooh, the luxury of it all!
We changed into the custom shirts Mary had designed for our group to wear: "Martha Stewart Groupie" (in Martha's special font) on the front, "It's a good thing" on the butt! We caused quite a commotion with those shirts; at least thirty attendees asked to take our pictures (including some Omni Media staffers!) As usual, we were first in line to get in, and Mary & Tanja were quick enough to get front row,
dead center
seats. Shop regulars Susan and Suzanne met up with us just in time for Martha's keynote speech. Martha was making eye contact with us throughout her address...we just love her!
After the speech, we headed back to the hotel for a quick change. We had been invited to a very special intimate dinner party at the home of Eileen Paulin. We had a great time making chit chat with notables such as Sandi Genovese, Marion Ballogg, Susan Rios, and Kaari Meng (French General.)
Monday hit us with a bang; the excitement of shopping for the store was palpable. Holly Dye & Norman P. Dixon met up with us at "Tiffy's Cafe" for a quick breakfast, then we headed to the show. Mary was in her full glory, efficiently and effectively selecting the best-of-the-best from the halls that were filled with exciting new products. Tens of thousands of dollars were committed to bring you the most amazing, Sweetpeas and Snapshots-style merchandise that we could find. We know you will be thrilled.
Some highlights:
Norman getting to meet both Debby Schuh and
Anna Griffin, who were both overjoyed to spend time with this man they had both heard so much about!
Linda Woods (always a delight...art incarnate!)
Carol Wingert...thanks for the autographed book!
Amy Butler, textile genius, posing with Mary in front of her new collection for K & Co.
Heidi Swapp's bling & stencils...smiling pretty for our camera!
Hanging with our in-house artists Emily Falconbridge & Tara Whitney...look for Tara's photographic delights at Sweetpeas, where you can book your own magical photo-shoot with this gifted photog!
Ordering up all the new goodies from our good friends at Creative Imaginations...Sonia, we loved your hidden-slidy board book the best!
MME's collections; you know how we love these!
Hambly Hambly Hambly!
Visiting with Celine Navarro; not enough time, but a great hug!
Basic Grey
Loads of unusual art bits, rubberstamps and collage ephemera...you know who was scoping that out!
Everyone else we love and haven't seen for so long...we appreciate you and wish we could have lingered longer, but we had to return to the store for the
Teresa Collins Junkitz Event!
Our event was thrilling; so many friends, old and new, came to share our special evening. New friends from Saturday's seminar drove all the way from Anaheim (1 1/2 hours!) to have a Sweetpeas and Snapshots experience. Congratulations to winners Raquel, Sabrina and Heather, who won the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st prizes respectfully. The girls at Junkitz are just lovely; we're anxious to have all the new product they've introduced at CHA arrived to share with you all.
Teresa is looking forward to coming back to Sweetpeas and Snapshots to teach this amazing Recipe Book (you've asked, she's answered!)...check our calendar for her upcoming dates!
